Keithesha Edwards, a 21-year-old from Belmont, has been granted bail after facing multiple fraud charges exceeding $70,000. She is accused of operating a “box hand” savings scheme that has caused financial hardship for many participants.
Edwards is charged with three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and three counts of fraudulent conversion, stemming from a scheme that began in October 2023.
Magistrate Conliffe Clarke set her bail at $70,000, which includes a $7,000 cash requirement. A committal hearing is set for January 23, 2025.
