LIAT bids farewell to our dear retired colleague and pilot, Captain Wade Austin-McDonald.
Captain McDonald dedicated an impressive 34 years of his life to serving LIAT in various roles, including pilot, captain, chief pilot, check airman, and examiner.
Affectionately known as “Mac,” he was a constant source of positivity, always wearing a smile and ever-ready to lend a helping hand.
Mac’s zest for life extended beyond the cockpit and was evident in his love for travel. He was a familiar face at carnivals, regattas, and fetes throughout the region, showcasing his deep appreciation for our shared Caribbean culture.
In 2020, he gracefully retired after an illustrious 44-year career in aviation.
Even in retirement, Mac continued to nurture his friendships with former colleagues, gathering for lively discussions on aviation-related topics.
Today, the entire LIAT family joins together to offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Fair winds and following seas, Captain Mac. May his soul find eternal peace.
