Eric Schmidt, the former Google executive, has been announced as the new owner of the Alfa Nero superyacht after bidding the highest amount of $67.6 million.
However, Schmidt’s attorneys have advised him to hold off on paying the purchase amount to the Antiguan and Barbudan government for a few days.
This delay is due to a pending judicial decision related to an injunction sought by a Russian citizen aiming to block the sale.
The court is expected to deliver its judgment soon.
The luxurious yacht, which had been abandoned for over a year, was seized by the government and put up for auction.
