( Real News Antigua ) Two robberies, occurring just over three hours apart in the early hours of January 8, are being investigated. One reportedly involves men believed to be impersonating law-enforcement personnel.
Reports say the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was informed by a Jonas Road man that he had been robbed of $750 in cash by unknown men.
This offence reportedly occurred at about 3:45 a.m. on the All Saints Road.
The victim claims he was driving from west to east when he was stopped by four men who were dressed in black police tactical uniforms, with ski masks covering their faces.
The men also appeared to be holding guns as they stood next to a silver SUV.
Reportedly, the men approached him and began to search his vehicle, as well as his pants pockets, while demanding money, and he was subsequently relieved of the cash he was carrying.
The perpetrators then drove from the scene.
The Police carried out a search for any suspicious vehicle and persons fitting the description, but without success.
This is the second such incident of which REAL News is aware in which robbers impersonated lawmen.
