In a grand graduation ceremony at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, over 250 individuals received diplomas from the Life-Long Learning Unit (LLU).
The event featured esteemed guests, including Governor General Sir Rodney Williams and Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene, who sponsored courses for their constituents.
Paula Lee, LLU’s leader, celebrated the educational transformation occurring in Antigua and Barbuda due to the UWI FIC’s presence. She emphasized the increased accessibility to professional development, diverse course offerings, access to Harvard Credential of Readiness studies, customized programs, and forthcoming scholarships.
Paula Lee also highlighted LLUs’ significant impact throughout the Caribbean, fostering a passion for learning, skill enhancement, and credential pursuit.
Of note, the graduates included inmates from His Majesty’s Prison who completed the “Seeds of Hope” program, with Omari Philip earning the valedictorian honor.
Despite challenges, he and his cohort expressed their determination to apply their knowledge upon reintegration into society and embrace positive change.
