State Funded Media is reporting that the police have arrested two employees of the Vector Control Unit in the Central Board of Health after they were allegedly caught stealing diesel.
The fuel was intended for use in spraying locations across the country with stagnant water, to curtail the breeding of mosquitoes.
One of the employees was reportedly found with at least five gallons of diesel at his yard, while the other was also found with a quantity of the fuel at his home.
It is reported that the workers colluded to siphon the diesel which they collected each morning to carry out their duties.
Police are investigating reports that the diesel was being sold to a trucking operation.
The authorities reportedly acted quickly when they were alerted to the racket.
