Sentenced to 10 years and 5 months imprisonment, Shajah Joyce of Villa broke into his estranged wife’s temporary residence on July 14, 2022.
Confronting his wife, he covered her mouth, but her cry for help led to a fight with the other occupants.
In the struggle, Joyce wounded her sister and another man with a knife. Justice Ann-Marie Smith handed down the sentence, just over 1/3 of the maximum 15 years, for two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Time spent on remand will be deducted from the prison term.
