Rawdon Turner was officially sworn in as Minister of Urban and Social Transformation during a ceremony held at Government House this morning.
This appointment follows his decisive victory in the St. Peter by-election, where he secured 1,672 votes, compared to 570 votes for his opponent, George Wehner of the opposition United Progressive Party.P
Prime Minister Gaston Browne praised Turner’s commitment to the people of St. Peter, emphasizing his dedication to improving the constituency’s infrastructure and advocating for its residents even after his 2023 electoral defeat. “The people of St. Peter have recognized his unwavering commitment and rewarded him with this victory,” said Browne.
Governor General Sir Rodney Williams presided over the ceremony, presenting Turner with his instruments of appointment and officially welcoming him to the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda.Turner will now assume responsibility for urban and social transformation, a ministry critical to addressing community development and enhancing social programs across the nation.
