As the back-to-school season approaches, an Inland Revenue Department (IRD) official advises the public to capitalize on the government’s Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) relief.
The government has waived ABST for essential school items from September 1st to 2nd, mirroring holiday reductions.
Jermaine Jarvis, IRD’s Deputy Commissioner, acknowledges that the initiative may see limited participation due to prior shopping.
Some parents deem the offer belated. Meanwhile, St Kitts and Nevis is also providing relief by issuing 250 EC$ vouchers to commemorate its 40th anniversary of political independence.
