Antigua and Barbuda—Efforts to operationalize the Sex Offenders Register, aimed at bolstering public safety, have resumed after a temporary pause.
Despite its passage in late 2022, the register is yet to be fully executed.
Recent developments, including a significant meeting involving the Department of Social Transformation, the police, the Bar association, and Legal Affairs Ministry representatives, have injected fresh momentum into the process.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin revealed that preparations are underway to establish the register properly.
The 2022 Sex Offenders Register Bill seeks to combat sexual reoffending by monitoring convicted sex offenders and sharing their information within certain sectors.
