POLICE ISSUE CAUTION & SAFETY TIPS AHEAD OF CARNIVAL HOLIDAY WEEKEND
As residents and visitors look forward to celebrating during the extended holiday weekend of carnival, the Police Administration has taken several steps to ensure everyone’s safety.
This includes implementing a number of security measures, such as increased police patrols, random stop-and-search, and traffic checks across the island.
The main focus is to address the issue of illegal firearms and the use of weapons during the carnival celebrations. Anyone found with blunt or sharp objects such as knives, machetes, scissors; pieces of iron, or wood without reason, will be arrested. Residents can also look forward to additional security measures around designated parking lots to avoid break-ins into vehicles and thefts.
Vendors and bar owners are also asked to cooperate with authorities and desist from selling drinks in glass bottles or cans during the entire carnival season. The police have also provided several useful safety tips to help keep everyone safe.Always be alert and avoid taking risks that will expose you to harm or danger.
Residents are asked to be cautious when walking in poorly lit areas.
Avoid listening to loud music on headphones while walking alone.
Avoid carrying around large amounts of cash or exposing cash in public places.

Be alert for counterfeit currencies. If you come in possession of counterfeit money, report it without delay.

Desist from leaving items of value inside your vehicles.
Vehicle owners are advised to park in areas that have adequate security measures in place.
Homeowners Must ensure their homes are properly secured before leaving home.
Business owners should ensure they have adequate security on their property.
Police are appealing to the owners and drivers of delivery trucks to ensure they have adequate security measures in place to secure cash and other items.
Persons constructing homes are advised to secure their building materials, and if possible, reduce the amount of materials left on construction sites.
The police are warning persons involved in stealing or purchasing stolen items to desist from this unlawful practice.
Residents are urged to report incidents of crime or suspicious activities to the police without delay.
