Antigua‘s Carnival celebrations are being enhanced by nearly 100 mas’ players from Guadeloupe, bringing French flair to the festivities. They arrived in St John’s yesterday with 450 passengers aboard the Jeans for Freedom ferry.Greeted by steel pan players and moko jumbie stilt walkers, the visitors plan to stay for Carnival, benefiting from the ferry’s regular service between the two islands.
Tourism Authority CEO Colin James remarked that the boat’s arrival marks “another good day for Antigua and Barbuda.” Charmaine Brown-Spencer highlighted the successful post-Covid collaboration with the Guadeloupe Ferry, aiming for a permanent shared service.
