Ahead of the Coronation in London, Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne joined other leaders of Commonwealth member states in a Leaders Summit and a private meeting with His Majesty King Charles III at Malborough House, the Headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Prime Minister Browne said that among issues of major concern to member states, and with this year has been designated the Commonwealth Year of Youth, the leaders looked at initiatives to support their empowerment.
Prime Minister Browne stated that leaders pledged to continue working towards strengthening the Commonwealth and noted that a commitment was made to invest in the 1.5 billion young people across the 56 nations of the Commonwealth.
This year, 2023 also marks the tenth anniversary of the signing of the commonwealth Charter, which reaffirms the values and principles of the Commonwealth as well as its aspirations.
As well as being designated the Year of the Youth, 2023 is also being marked as the Commonwealth Year of Peace.
