National Day of Prayer Observed in
Antigua and Barbuda on September 12th, 2024
A proclamation issued on September 9th, 2024, by the Governor General has designated the 12th of September, 2024, as a National Day of Prayer in Antigua and Barbuda.
To mark the occasion, the day has been declared a half-public holiday throughout the nation.
According to the statutory instrument No. 57 of 2024, businesses, banks, shops, and public offices are required to close at 12:00 noon on this day.
The government has encouraged citizens and residents to take part in the day of prayer, using it as an opportunity for reflection, unity, and the seeking of guidance for the nation’s future.The event is part of a longstanding tradition in the country, where national days of prayer play a key role in bringing the community together in observance of spiritual and national well-being.
This half public holiday will allow members of the public to take time off work to participate in prayer activities and spiritual gatherings across the nation.
