The Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of Yulia Guryeva Motlokhov, a Russian citizen, in the case concerning the Alfa Nero superyacht.
The court has mandated the government to release documents related to the decision to seize the superyacht and retain the sale proceeds. The government has been given a two-week deadline to comply.
Motlokhov, the daughter of a Russian oligarch identified by the United States as the owner of the Alfa Nero, has been asserting her ownership interest in the yacht through a trust company.
The government recently sold the yacht for 40 million US dollars, using the funds to service debt.
When contacted, the government’s lead attorney, Senior Counsel Anthony Astaphan, told the media that he would consult with the Attorney General and other members of the legal team before providing a detailed response. He briefly noted that he has no significant concerns regarding the ruling.
