Real News Antigua: As investigations continue into the recent armed robbery at the CLC&S Superette in Bethesda, it appears that a breakthrough has been made as the vehicle transporting the bandits has been located.
A source says that several police officers and personnel from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) undertook a joint mobile patrol at a location in Bethesda, where their search was concentrated on the suspects and the vehicle.
Reportedly, during the operation, a silver Toyota Noah motor van, C22220 – resembling the motor van that was involved in the aggravated robbery on January 18 – was found concealed behind the Bethesda Methodist Church.
Meanwhile, the Police continue to hunt for the four gunmen who were involved in the robbery, during which shots were fired, although no one injured.
A mother and daughter were assaulted in the incident and money was stolen from the cash register, as well as from the women’s handbags, amounting to over $1,400.
The brazen hold-up, which occurred at about 4:15 p.m., not only sent shockwaves throughout the normally peaceful community, but traumatized the 62-year-old All Saints owner and her 47-year-old daughter.
