Efforts are underway to restore power across Antigua and Barbuda after a widespread outage on Tuesday.
A technical issue occurred during a test at the power plant, causing a loss of 46 out of 50 megawatts of generation.
Despite the unexpected setback, the restoration process began promptly, with 26 out of 27 feeders back online.The Manager of the APUA Electricity Business Unit, Andre Mathias, explained that a detailed report from the Antigua Power Company (APC) will be analyzed to prevent future incidents.
He emphasized the necessity of routine testing to enhance the reliability and security of the power supply.
Once the assessment is complete, testing will continue to ensure the full operational capacity of the new power plant.
