Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has announced a significant reduction in the
Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST) for the upcoming Christmas season. From December 20 to 22, 2024, the sales tax will be reduced from 17% to 7%, offering shoppers substantial savings during the yuletide season.
The announcement was made during the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM on Saturday. The 10-percentage-point reduction is aimed at providing financial relief to consumers while encouraging increased spending during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year
Local businesses are expected to see a boost in activity as residents take advantage of the temporary tax cut. The government’s initiative is part of its broader strategy to support economic growth while easing the financial burden on households during the holiday season.
