( Daily Observer )The driver has since handed himself into police. Head of the Police Traffic Department, Rodney Ellis, tells Observer the male motorist is likely to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident with the possibility of more serious charges to follow.
The incident occurred shortly after 2am this morning when the couple were attempting to cross the road near Billy’s Food Mart, police said.

Two AUA students are in a critical condition after apparently being struck by a vehicle on Friars Hill Road last night.
Both are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.
The 21-year-old man is said to be in very poor condition while his 19-year-old female companion was rushed to the operating room to have an arm amputated before being moved back to the ICU.
Both students are on ventilators.
Details of the incident are currently sparse but the driver is said to have fled the scene.
