Assistant Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher, will act as Commissioner of Police, following a motion approved by Parliament.
She will take up the post from October 16-22, during the absence of top cop McDonald Jacob.
The Police Service Commission (PolSC) recommended ACP Harewood-Christopher and the motion was approved by Parliament.
The Government also has signalled its intention to bring an amendment so that short-term acting appointments in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will be carried out by the Police Service Commission, rather than Parliament.
