(TrinidadGaurdian)Police officers are searching for two men who robbed the owner of a day care in Aranguez, San Juan, in front of her children on Tuesday.
Speaking with the Guardian Media yesterday, the owner, who did not want her name or that of the day care mentioned, said none of the seven children who were there at the time were hurt.
She explained that when she was first accosted by the two men, the children ran to her feet and were screaming. The women said one of the suspects then tried to calm the children and quiet them down.
“It was at about 9 am I was coming out of the kitchen and the two men came up to me, one of them had a gun. I instantly put my hands up and said Oh My God, Oh My God. The children came to me and were bawling and one of the guys kept trying to pat them down and shhhing at them,” the owner said.
However, she believes it was a personal attack on her and not specifically the day care.
“They kept asking for the money and the gold. One of them was on the phone with someone asking where the money and the gold and the person on the phone told them in a bedroom upstairs and that was when they started to look for the key. I told them I only had $1,000 on the shelf and to take it but they kept asking for the money and the gold, so judging from the phone call, yes someone would have sent someone.”
The owner said she spent the day yesterday adding security reinforcements to all her doors and in the area where she has the day care.
Following the robbery, a video went viral on social media showing the two men jumping a high wall into the yard, which is located along a dead-end road off Boundary Road in Aranguez.
