(SKNNews)The twin island federation of St Kitts and Nevis is mourning the loss of a pominent St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party member, Rudolph Morton. The people affiliated with the political party and those affected by his presence in their lives find themselves in a state of grief and loss.
The country’s people, including the current leader of the SKNLP, Dr Terrance Drew have shared condolences on the tragic passing of the community stalwart.
The country’s people have described Rudolph Morton as a true luminary and a true stalwart of the Labour Party. The people have claimed that the passing of such a stalwart leaves a void in politics, education, and business.
He spent several years of his career as an esteemed adjunct professor at Manhattan Community College. During his tenure working in the capacity of a professor, he shared his boundless knowledge and inspired countless students. His leadership as the Managing Director of the Frigate Bay Development Corporation played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s infrastructure.
He completed his education at the University of the Virgin Islands. Beyond his professional roles, Morton was a cornerstone of the community. Community sources and those who knew the deceased man suggest that he was equally involved with his family business, Morton’s Supermarket.
The warmth and dedication of Rudolph Morton resonated deeply. The lifelong association of the deceased with the people of the country made him endearing to all who crossed his path. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, also shared his feelings on the departure of the community stalwart.
Dr Drew stated that he was writing his condolences message with a very sad heart. Prime Minister met Cde Rudy in the 90s as a young man living in St Peter’s. He was a staple of St Peter’s life, as his supermarket was our place to shop and hang out before we caught the bus home.
Prime Minister shared that Rudolph Morton was extremely compassionate, allowing many to come and go without paying when he knew they had it rough.
His kindness was noted as a sponsor for the St Peter’s football team many years ago. The members of that team still speak to it. Further, Dr Terrance Drew stated that I met him as a stalwart of the SKNLP as the years went by. He never wavered in his support, whether in or out of government.
He stated that Cde Rudy, Rudolph Morton lived a full life.
