(SLUTimes)Education Minister Shawn Edward, declaring school security a priority, has assured parents, students and staff that his Ministry had received the recommendations from a recent security audit and was implementing them.
“Creating a safe and conducive school environment remains a major priority for us at the Ministry of Education,” Edward explained in a back-to-school address aired Sunday night.
He also appealed to parents to prioritise their children’s education while urging students to make the most of education opportunities at their disposal.
The Minister stated that parents should not leave their children’s education entirely to principals and teachers.
“Yours is an invaluable role in the nurturing of your child,” Edward explained.
In Sunday night’s address, the Minister observed that although there were work programme challenges in rehabilitating school buildings, all primary and secondary schools will reopen on Monday, September 4.
