Guyana Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo has questioned the inconsistencies in the official statement released by Guyana Police Force (GPF) surrounding its investigation into the Adrianna Younge’s case.
“Personally, I’m amazed at what came out here. I listened to the father on the video saying that this morning family members and the police searched the pool and the premises and there was no body, or the young lady was not found in the premises or in the pool. I then saw a report from the police…which spoke about checking the pool and the premises since last night…,” Jagdeo recalled.
“…and then, saying this “the commander centre in regional division # 3 was contacted and viewed footage showed that Adrianna entered a red and black Raum motorcar bearing registration # PSS 4684 which drove off in an eastern direction heading towards Vreed-en-Hoop”,” he added.“Now if they have that footage…they should immediately release the footage. I don’t know why there is a delay in releasing this footage because this is very inconsistent with the entire story. If you saw, you viewed footage which showed the young lady entering into the car…then release the footage that you viewed, we want to see it too as a country and the family…how after this young lady left, her body returned to the pool? Something is wrong and we have to get to the bottom of this and we’re not gonna rest until that happens. And whoever is culpable and if there is a coverup, people will face consequences. This young girl should have never lost her life,” Jagdeo expressed.
The Guyana Police Force has since issued a statement, admitting that its initial press release on the Adrianna Younge’s investigation contained inaccuracies.
“We expect a thorough investigation into the matter…The president has already announced that there will be complete and detailed investigation into the circumstances into which this young teenager lost her life,” Jagdeo said.
