Calling all secondary, college and university students across Antigua and Barbuda – come join us, get ready to form teams, represent your schools and compete in the BRIGHT Hack – FinTech Challenge for a chance to win up to $10,000 XCD in prizes.

Time: 9:30 am (daily)

Participants: Students (maximum 4 on a hacker team) representing their schools

About the Hackathon:
Hackathons are unique competition events that bring individuals or teams together in rapid innovation and collaborative engineering to brainstorm business solutions to problems being faced by communities. They are also a great way to network, learn new skills or even just make new friends with similar interests.
BRIGHT: (B)oosting (R)enewables and (I)nfrastructure (G)lobally by (H)arnessing (T)echnology
The BRIGHT Hack – Fintech Challenge is being hosted by The US Embassy Bridgetown that is proud to support STEM learning and Entrepreneurship in Antigua and Barbuda with Special Guest – Mr. Marcus Kennedy who is the General Manager for Intel Corporation – Gaming, Creator and Esports Segment; as well as a Senior Director in the Client Computing Group.
Mr. Kennedy will engage students and elaborate on the importance of:
– The Future of Esports
– Gaming: A Sustainable and Successful Career Path (Myth or Fact?)
– Entrepreneurship and Innovation as an Economic Driver
The purpose of this Hackathon is to highlight opportunities for students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEM / STEAM) fields and encourage entrepreneurship, as well as innovation in emerging technologies.
This follows on the Esports College Fair that was hosted by the US Embassy Bridgetown in Antigua and Barbuda in 2022, exposing students to scholarships, fellowships and colleges / universities programs available in the USA; as well as esports, game design, robotics and other STEAM fields.
