(SKNNEWS)The prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, who handles the responsibility for national security and social security, has expressed his disappointment with the two armed robberies at Ram’s Supermarket at Camps and the Ram’s Supermarket at Bird Rock, respectively.
He also mentioned the alleged armed robbery at Douglas’s estate on the same day. The three incidents occurred in different parts of the country only hours apart. The armed robberies have led to unrest in the various affected communities.
The Ram’s Supermarket robbery incident occurred at 6:30 PM. Meanwhile, the second incident occurred hours later at 7:55 PM, on Saturday, August 12, 2023. The police officers have claimed that the assailants took off with large sums of money from both establishments.
After Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew received the incident report, he visited the establishments to interact with the management and owners of the Supermarket and the affected people in the St Peter’s community. He extended his support and encouragement to all the affected people and condemned the incidents which are taking place in the community.
Taking to his social media account, he shared some images of himself meeting the management and owners of Ram’s Supermarket. He extended his most heartfelt support to the people. He also shared a message condemning the incident wholeheartedly.
Dr Terrance drew wrote, I wholeheartedly condemn the actions of the perpetrators who engaged in the robbery of the two RAMS supermarkets last evening and the alleged armed robbery at Douglas Estate, St. Peter’s.
Dr Terrance Drew expressed that he was deeply troubled by the recent events. He also acknowledged that these criminal acts negatively affect our community. Accordingly, such businesses must discontinue.
He assured the people of St Kitts and Nevis that the government is committed to working closely with law enforcement to ensure safety and bring those responsible to justice. Simultaneously, he urged the country’s people to come together to support one another during this challenging time.
