Emergency responders rescued nine people on a catamaran after the vessel sank off Saint Lucia Tuesday, Martinique media reports say.
According to the reports, passengers, including tourists, boarded the vessel for a relaxing cruise when it collided with another boat.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
However, Martinique 1 Ere reported it appeared that while returning to Martinique, the catamaran, which suffered a leak, began to sink nearly 30 kilometers from the coast of the French Caribbean island.
French emergency personnel, supported by a helicopter, arrived minutes after receiving a distress call and carried out the rescue mission.
There were no reports of injuries.
