The Ministry of The Blue Economy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Transformation, has donated a state-of-the-art Aquaponics farm to the National Vocational Center for Persons Living with Disabilities. The announcement was made today by Agriculture Minister Antony Smith, who highlighted the project’s potential to promote entrepreneurship and enhance food security.“This significant project harnesses the potential of the blue economy while promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening our efforts towards food security,” said Minister Smith during the announcement.
The innovative Aquaponics farm is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the Resident Office of the British High Commissioner. Minister Smith expressed gratitude to all involved, stating, “A heartfelt thank you to the Resident Office of the British High Commissioner and all stakeholders involved—this initiative would not have been possible without your generous support!
The National Vocational Center for Persons Living with Disabilities is set to benefit immensely from this project, which aims to provide new avenues for skill development and economic empowerment for individuals with disabilities. The Aquaponics farm will serve as a training ground for vocational skills, fostering a sense of entrepreneurship and self-reliance among participants.”This initiative marks a crucial step in promoting inclusivity and sustainable development within the community. By leveraging the blue economy, the project not only addresses food security but also creates meaningful opportunities for marginalized groups, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to holistic growth and empowerment.
