Tourism Minister Denise Charles has reported a successful Real Mas 2023 under the theme “Mas An Lawi.”
A number of exciting activities were held during the Carnival season which culminated with two days of street jump-up on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21.
“From all reports, Dominica’s Carnival, the Real Mas 2023 was successful and generally very peaceful,” the Minister said during an interview with DBS Radio.
She continued, “And I must say that I was very pleased with the police report that we had an incident-free Carnival Monday and Tuesday.”
Charles commended the Chief of Police and his team for having a well-coordinated plan and ensuring that the public had a safe and enjoyable Carnival.
According to her, there were many visitors who came to Dominica to enjoy and experience Dominica’s Carnival.
“You had visitors from St Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, we had many returning Dominican nationals abroad, we had visitors from Trinidad, Barbados and even Jamaica,” Charles revealed. “And from all reviews we have received, they had a fabulous time attending Calypso shows, the various pageants, [and] the private events which were held during the season. We had an increase in the number of private events.”
She also commended the stakeholders, corporate sponsors, Calypso Association, musicians, organizers of Village Mas, and revelers for ensuring that the ‘ Real Mas’ 2023 was an enjoyable experience for all revelers and Carnival lovers who came to Dominica to have a wonderful time.
