(RealNews)Bishop Rolston Jeffrey is concerned about the apparent lack of
proper security at the Antigua Port Authority.
His concern follows two recent incidents in which unauthorized
persons found their way onto the Port’s compound and removed
several barrels and packages.
To this day, neither the Police nor Port officials have issued a
statement on either incident, and the persons responsible for the
breaches have never been arrested, as far as the public knows.
Bishop Jeffrey, an official of the Free and Fair Election League, says
that officers of the Port should have been held accountable for these
breaches.
He says no unauthorized persons should have made it onto a secure
area of the Port, breaching international protocols, without an
investigation being launched.
Many residents felt that both incidents involved persons employed
at the Port who shared information with outside individuals.
In one incident, a male intruder was spotted by a security officer,
who inquired why he was at the Port after hours; the man’s
response was that he was there to collect a package.
Bishop Jeffrey also believes this was an inside job, and asks how the
intruder knew where the barrel was located and which container to
go into.
