A new executive has been elected to run the affairs of the Antigua & Barbuda Swimming Federation.
Following an election, Edith Clashing was voted to serve as president of the organization for the four-year term.
Clashing says she is looking forward to working with the other members of the new executive, and with stakeholders, to realize a number of initiatives – including finding a home for the swimming fraternity.
At the elections held over the weekend, other members were elected to serve on the executive. These include Kem Warner – vice president – pool; Margarita Fernandez – vice president – open water; Janelle Charles-Williams – vice president – aquatic development; Andrea Roberts-Nicholas – Secretary; and Pooja Tivary – treasurer.
The incoming president, who is a veteran swimming administrator, says that athletes and coaches have already shown their capacity to work hard despite challenges, but there is a dire need for improved facilities to ensure the survival and growth of the sport.
In the meantime, Clashing says the new executive will hit the ground running, as it is already shaping up to be a busy year for swim athletes.
The new executive of the Antigua & Barbuda Swimming Federation held its first meeting on Monday, March 20, to develop its work programme.
