In Antigua and Barbuda, a man has been fined $30,000 for possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Josh Lucien, aged 26, admitted guilt for having 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a Ruger SR9c 9mm pistol without a proper license.
The charges arose when officers from the Criminal Investigations Department discovered the concealed items during a search of Lucien’s vehicle in the Ottos area.
Lucien, previously imprisoned for aggravated robbery, explained he found the weapon while cleaning a gutter near an abandoned house.
Despite a plea for leniency due to impending fatherhood, Magistrate Dexter Wason imposed the $30K fine – $20,000 for the firearm and $10,000 for the ammunition.(Observer)
