St. John’s witnessed a day of contrasting events on Monday, as four stabbing incidents marred the city while J’ouvert celebrations filled the streets with revelers.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) reported four people injured in separate stabbing attacks, with three occurring in the morning and one on Kentish Road during the afternoon.
Fortunately, all victims received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital.
Law enforcement authorities maintained a vigilant presence during the festivities to ensure safety.
Amidst the revelry, the EMS assisted four intoxicated celebrants during J’ouvert, and all were fortunately cared for by emergency medical technicians and their families without hospitalization.
EMS Director Shawn Greenidge commended the reduced number of drunken cases this year and urged revelers to act responsibly throughout the remaining festivities.
