The Police Commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda has confirmed an investigation into a Facebook post suggesting gun violence against Prime Minister Gaston Browne
The post appeared over the weekend following an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.
Commissioner Rodney stated that investigators have identified the individual behind the post and are pursuing the matter.
Rodney emphasized that inciting violence on social media is a criminal offense and unacceptable behavior.
“Making threats using electronic devices is a criminal offense. We have legislation to enforce the law,” he said.He urged the public to refrain from sharing violent and threatening content online and affirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
“Violence is not acceptable and will not be part of our culture. The police force will use all efforts to minimize such risks.”
