Police are searching for a 24-year-old man who reportedly attacked his girlfriend with a cutlass at his Pointe-a-Pierre home on Sunday.
The 17-year-old victim is in a serious condition at the San Fernando General Hospital, police said.
A report said around 3.20 pm the teenager was at her boyfriend’s home at Christian Drive, Plaisance Park, when an argument broke out.
The suspect reportedly grabbed a cutlass and struck her several times on her arms, hands and head.
He locked her in the house and left.
The teenager escaped through a window and sought assistance from the neighbours.
Police said he was likely to face wounding and false imprisonment charges.
However, their investigations will also include the nature of their relationship as she is a minor and he may face additional charges.
Constable Smith of the St Margaret’s Police Station is investigating.
