The CYW International team expressed concerns to the media over a breach of confidentiality that led to their business proposal being leaked.
Consisting of Canadian women of Antiguan descent, the team had been working on a project to build a crematorium in Antigua and Barbuda to address the strain on public cemeteries running out of space.
Despite the government’s prior intention to support the construction, local funeral homes initially interested in assisting withdrew due to high costs.
The team’s business plan was leaked, compromising the project’s integrity and exposing sensitive information meant for the government.
This breach eroded the team’s trust and confidence in executing the initiative.
They also cited frustration with ineffective communication from the government, which frequently rejected their proposals through the media, leaving the team uncertain about the project’s future.
