. CIBC Caribbean has raised a record breaking $177,000 to support cancer care in Antigua and Barbuda. The funds which were raised from the 14th Annual Walk for the Cure held last 11th October, 2025 along with other fundraising initiatives, hav been presented to the Breast Friends Organisation and the Oncology Department of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC). Each will receive $88,500.
Speaking during the presentation hosted at the Royalton Chic Resort, Country Head Ladesa James-Williams lauded her Walk for the Cure team at the bank, its many sponsors and the general public. She said that in addition to the actual Walk, other events have been added including Hike for the Cure, Music for the Cure, Gala for the Cure and Jam for the Cure plus a raffle.

Last February, CIBC Walk for the Cure had donated $105,000 raised in 2024 and she had challenged her team to aim higher.
“Through hard and dedicated work and with the support of sponsors and the general public, we are now donating $177,000 to assist SLBMC and Breast Friends to continue the great work that they do to support and care for those suffering the effects of cancer,” she said.
Both Michelle Lynch of Breast Friends and Salma Crump for SLBMC expressed their gratitude for the ongoing commitment of CIBC Caribbean to support cancer care and treatment in Antigua and Barbuda.
The 15th Annual Walk for the Cure will be held on Saturday 3rd October, 2026.
