The Leader Of The DNA Says The recent Spat Between Two GOVT Ministers Is a Distraction.

The Leader of the National Alliance for Change, Miss Joanne Massiah has decribed the recent outburst coming from Minister of Works Lennox Weston as a distraction from the myriad problems facing Antigua and Barbuda at this time.

Recently on a tour of one of the housing sites, the Works Minister said that National Housing was burning money.

The National Housing project, which was launched in several communities in Antigua and Barbuda shortly after the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party took office in 2014, remains under construction in places like Paynters.

On the tour, Minister of Works Lennox Weston also made it know that it was not the fault of his ministry, why the houses at Paynters have not been completed.

But in a recent statement following the comments of the Works Minister, the country’s Housing Minister Mrs. Maria Bird Browne said while infrastructure at Dredge Bay is completed, the roads in the Paynters Project where the houese are finished, remain incomplete.

The Minister of Housing in the statement also made an appeal to Minister Weston to complete the unfinished roads at Paynters in seven days and to begin those at Denfields where homes are completed, but no roads have been constructed.

According to Miss Massiah, many home owners are suffering because many of them are paying rent and mortgage.

The Leader of Democratic National Alliance said that National Housing has failed to deliver the houses promised to many of them.

With regards to life in the country, Miss Massiah said it was murderous.

Miss Massiah said that that the cost of living was escalating on a daily basis, homeowners continue to face water shortages and the roads were in a horrendous state .
