Over 90 substitute teachers employed by the Ministry of Education have been assigned to different schools across the island. The men and women who are contracted for a 3month period to fill the void left by other educators who have refused to comply with the vaccine mandate.
Director of Education Clare Browne, spoke to the matter on Monday on a local radio station. He says that the substitute teachers were placed in the classrooms recently, after a period of training.
“On the 22nd of October 2021, we would have started to deploy the substitute teachers,’’ browne said.The remaining substitutes he said will be recruited shortly and be placed in the public school system. Browne said that it is important for the teaching and learning process to continue despite the un-willingness of some educators to get vaccinated.
