Sir Robin Yearwood To Represent Antigua and Barbuda At State Funeral In Jamaica

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda will be represented at the State Funeral on Sunday of Former Jamaica Prime Minister Edward Seaga.

Confirmation has come from Ambassador Mr Coilin Murdoch.

The Ambassador said that Senior Government Minister Sir Robin Yearwood who is responsible for Public Utilities and Aviation will represent Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

The Antigua and Barbuda Government representative departed the country today for Jamaica.

 The Church service for the former Jamaica Prime Minister will be held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral on North Street in downtown, Kingston.      Before the state funeral, Mr. Seaga’s body has been lying in state at several locations, since June 10th.     However, the casket has remained closed at the request of the family.   Mr. Seaga’s remains will be interred at the National Heroes’ Park in Jamaica.

A period of mourning is now being observed and will end on Saturday June 22.    During this period the Jamaica Government has not had any social activities. official activities that were scheduled were postponed and where possible; travel has been limited by government officials .
