Security guard shot dead at casino

A se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer was shot ear­ly Thurs­day morn­ing while in the carpark of a casi­no at Ari­api­ta Av­enue in Wood­brook.

He, how­ev­er, suc­cumbed to in­juries at hos­pi­tal.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 2.15 am An­tho­ny “Ace” Hume, 26, of Par­adise Heights, Mor­vant was shot in the carpark of Roy­al Caribbean Casi­no.

He was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he died while un­der­go­ing treat­ment.

Hume is the sec­ond se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer to have been killed in a week.

Last Thurs­day Ri­car­do Dixon, 22, was shot and thrown out of a ve­hi­cle in Carlsen Field.

It is sus­pect­ed that Dixon, the fa­ther of one, was picked up while he was walk­ing out Bhagna Trace in Chase Vil­lage.

He was sup­posed to get a taxi to Ch­agua­nas from the tri­an­gle in Chase Vil­lage at the top of Bhagna Trace and then from Ch­agua­nas an­oth­er taxi to his lo­ca­tion in En­deav­our.

It was his first day on the job with Heller Se­cu­ri­ty Ser­vices.

A mo­tive is yet to be de­ter­mined for Hume’s mur­der.

The mur­der toll now stands at 244.
