The “Play it Out” Concert to Beat Plastic Pollution scheduled for June 1st is just around the corner and in order to keep the event “environmentally friendly” and up to standards, there are a few restricted/prohibited items that will not be allowed into the venue as well as a few rules and regulations for those planning to attend the concert.
The eyes of the world will be on us. Media, government officials, NGO’s, environmentalists and the like will be on-island making sure that Antigua and Barbuda is truly setting an example that other countries can follow. It is our duty as citizens of this land we love, to take pride in our surroundings in order to ensure that Antigua and Barbuda’s image to the world is exemplary. We are therefore asking persons to please adhere to the following rules and guidelines.
Prohibited items Include:
- Plastic bottles to include water bottles, soda bottles, etc
- Glass bottles e.g. beer bottles
- Plastic bags
- Styrofoam Coolers
- Plastic cups
- Plastic straws
- Plastic cutlery
- Styrofoam “food service products” to include food containers including bowls, plates, hot and cold beverages cups and cup lids, clamshell, hinge lids and all other containers made of polystyrene for food services
The entire perimeter of the stadium has been designated as a “sterile zone”. No vendors, loitering or the like will be allowed. This area will be heavily guarded and monitored.
All persons attending the concert will be screened by security at checkpoints at the gate, each attendee will receive 1 recycled branded bottle which you are expected to use throughout the night while in the grounds.
Litter wardens will be patrolling the entire venue, ensuring that persons comply with the NO LITTER policy.
Concert attendees are expected to utilize garbage receptacles which will be placed throughout the venue.
