Registration of asylum seekers: ‘system to minimise fraud’

The Government plans to put in place as robust a system as possible to minimise fraudulent duplication of the registration cards which are to be provided for Venezuelans wishing to stay in Trinidad and Tobago.

“Obviously we will want some security features on the registration cards. Unfortunately with everything, no matter what it is, sometimes there are those who decide to duplicate and break the law. That is one of the things for discussion… We are looking at what security features we will have on them,” National Security Minister Stuart Young said during the post-Cabinet news briefing at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s yesterday.
