PM Pushing Hard to Get banks to Extend Moratorium on Loans

Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he is pushing to get local banks to extend their moratorium on loans, so as to protect individuals as a reult of the Covid 19 pandemic…To this end, the Prime Minister said he is looking to have a meeting early in the new week with the banks.

Making the anouncement on Saturday , the Prime Minister said he has already been in contact with the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and efforts are now underway to finalize the meeting with the local banks.

He said the Central bank is in agreement and he believes that they will be arranging a meeting of the Monetary Council for Antigua and Barbuda to get consensus of the members of the Monetary Council.
