The second COVID-19 outbreak at the Psychiatric Hospital continues to increase.

Public health authorities said yesterday the situation at the Black Rock, St Michael facility was being managed, after more contact tracing led to another five cases being discovered.

Last Friday, Minister of Health Jeffrey Bostic reported that 63 people there had tested positive that day, and 43 the day before. But in a statement released yesterday, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reported that the hospital had now detected a total of 111 cases, as of last Friday.

Screening conducted on October 18 revealed two cases of COVID-19 on the Grassfield Ward and two in the Thrive Family Centre.  Through contact tracing, it was realised that there was a link between Grassfield Ward and the C Ward at the facility.
