Moore: Just the start

With Government moving to appoint at least 4 000 public servants, the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) wants to see even more of those who have been waiting in line also get their papers.

That was the call yesterday from BWU general secretary, Senator Toni Moore, who was reacting to Monday’s announcement by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley at a meeting of the Social Partnership.

The move was said to have already started with at least 200 nurses getting the first part of the paperwork process.

While applauding the decision to appoint those who had been temporary for at least three years, and who had a clean record, Moore said this should be just the start for those workers who had been waiting to be regularised.
