MAKING MORTGAGES EASY THE CIBC FIRSTCARIBBEAN WAY

Making it simple by educating customers on the mortgage process is the innovative approach being taken by CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank.

On Thursday 25th July, the bank hosted a Mortgage Seminar for clients and potential mortgage customers. They were taken through the step by step application process of obtaining a mortgage.

Branch Manager, Dawn Soleyn welcomed the attendees and explained that CIBC FirstCaribean was committed to making the dream of owning a piece of the rock, an easy and seamless process. She noted that the seminar was an opportunity to learn about the process involved.

The event’s presenters included:

Jacqueline Burton, Manager, Mortgage and Loans Centre who presented a guide to home ownership and introduced the Banks’s Loans Team. Mervin Higgins, Draftsman/Architectural Technician shared the process of preparing the homeowner’s plans. He is the owner of ACM Building Services with experience in project management.

Fredrick Southwell, Town and Country Planner from the Development Control Authority (DCA), gave some insight of the process of approval for architectural plans at DCA along with how clients should engage the DCA prior to, during and post home construction.

John Bradshaw, Quantity Surveyor/Appraiser/Valuator discussed the importance of valuing one’s property, and building according to one’s realistic ability to afford that property and Harry Hobson, Anjo Insurance (Massy Agent) discussed the importance of home insurance.

Following the presentations, there was an interactive question and answer segment, where clients were able to obtain more detailed information from the presenters.

The seminar was well received and participants congratulated the bank for this innovative, informative and interactive approach to banking in Antigua.
