The Barbados Light and Power Co. has dispatched crews across the island to commence work on restoring power.

Thousands of customers across its network were without electricity yesterday as winds intensified during the passage of Tropical Storm Dorian.

A crew has responded to reports of a fallen tree in Dover, Christ Church, which resulted in an outage.

Other areas being worked on include: Fortescue, Apple Hall, Atlantic Park, Shrewsbury, Well House, Lynches and Marley Vale, St Philip; Cleavers Hill and Hillswick, St Thomas; Date Hill, Boscobel and The Risk, St Peter; Pie Corner, Spring Hall, Bishops, Josey Hill, Hope Road and Northumberland;  St Lucy; Kent and Fort George, Christ Church; Strathclyde in St Michael and East Coast in St Andrew.

Power was restored to customers in parts of St Thomas, St John, St Philip and St Joseph.

Crews will be working as quickly as possible, weather permitting, while observing safety protocols, to restore power to all affected customers, Light and Power said in a statement to the public. (PR/SAT)
