Kambon: Don’t make us work on Emancipation Day

IT is unconscionable to ask Afro-Trinidadians to work on Emancipation Day, says chairman of the Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad and Tobago (ESCTT), Khafra Kambon.

Kambon pointed the finger at the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association (DOMA) for annually demanding that its employees turn up for work on a day that commemorates the freedom of African slaves. The ESCTT head was speaking at yesterday’s launch of the Lidj Yasu Omowale Emancipation Village, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
