Hundreds of residents and dozens of students turned out for the inaugural Jennings Ebenezer Connection (JEC) Health Fair on Thursday. The event, which was held at the community’s basketball court attracted hundreds of residents from both Ebenezer and Jennings as well as the surrounding areas plus students from nearby Trinity Academy School, St Mary’s School of Excellence and both the Jennings Primary and Secondary Schools.. Among the tests and screenings conducted were blood pressure, blood glucose, weight and height, physical examinations by doctors, eye-care and dental checks and there were a number of social workers on hand to provide emotional counseling…. A blood drive was also part of the exercise, which sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Metropolitan University College of Medicine, KFC and Epicurean Purified Water. On hand at the exercise was Medical Director at Mount St John Hospital Dr Albert Duncan and Member of Parliament for the area, Health, Wellness and the Environment Minister-Molwyn Joseph, who believes that taking Healthcare into the various communities is the way to go. While describing the event, Minister Joseph noted that the whole idea of the fair is to bring healthcare much closer to the community.
